SIGGRAPH 2017 - SIGGRAPH 2018: Production Sessions Chair

Production Sessions Committee Chair:

Program Planning & Management, Conference Decision-Making, Committee Leadership, Cross-Conference Collaboration, & On-Site Execution

SIGGRAPH 2017 Production Sessions interview about how the Production Sessions are chosen, what attendees can expect to see at the conference, the history and evolution of the program, from its origin as an offshoot of the SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival to the current stand-alone program with its first ever Production Gallery.

In 2017, I launched “SIGGRAPH Now”, an all-new short-form recorded program, overseeing communications and studio approvals, post-conference filming and editing, and final release. This was our first project: Join Weta Visual Effects Supervisor Anders Langlands as he discusses the body and facial performance capture used in “War for the Planet of the Apes.”

In 2018, “SIGGRAPH Now” continued with another insightful behind-the-scenes presentation, sharing educational Production-Sessions-like content between conferences.

Join Guilherme Jacinto, a Directing Animator at Disney Pixar, as he shares insight into how the skeletons of "Coco" came to life.

SIGGRAPH Spotlight Episode 17: SIGGRAPH 2018 Production Sessions Chair Emily Hsu sits down with a panel of independent creators in production and animation to chat about what led them to go “independent.” The group discusses the challenges — and joys — of financing and producing projects as well as what keeps them motivated to push the limits of storytelling, and offers advice for the next generation of creators. The amazing group of guest innovators includes Rex Grignon (CEO and co-founder, Nimble Collective), Larry Cutler (CTO and co-founder, Baobab Studios), Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi (founder, Tonko House), Bobby Pontillas (art director, TAIKO Studios), Andrew Chesworth (head of development, TAIKO Studios), and Keika Lee (founder, greyscale animation).
